It's my birthday! My day began with Ian making me banana pancakes and giving me gifts (a lap desk pad thing for my netbook, a knit hat and a bucket of Oreos). I also FaceTimed with my mom for about an hour, so that was rad.
A terrible picture of me with Oreos on my head.
Then we ventured out to find one of the vegetarian restaurants in town for lunch. I had classes from 5:30-8:30pm, so we couldn't do dinner. We had to ask a million people (and the last lady we asked actually led us into the restaurant), but we made it there. After the biggest lunch ever, we went to Starbucks. It was our first Starbucks excursion since we've been in China. It was packed! Each menu item costs about $1 more than it's US counterpart, but that doesn't stop people here (who have a much lower annual income) from going there. We drank our delicious coffees and then walked along one of the springs. It was lovely. To top it all off, after my classes tonight, I discovered a package of ours in the teachers' room. Our masks have arrived. I have to get accustomed to the fit, but I think they will work splendidly!
What's all this, then?
Welcome! This is where you'll read about our day to day lives. It may not always be fascinating, but here I'll discuss our home life, work life, struggles and successes. You know, regular human stuff.
