We are moved in! We're really happy with our little house. It's all decked out in Ikea garb and not even in a subtle way. Check it out:
It's nice that setting up house went well, because things are still pretty stressful at work. The actual teaching is fine, of course. It's just everything else that's difficult. The newest battle? Summer flights home. They were promised to us during the recruitment process, but now HR is trying to back track and say that we will be "eligible" for these flights next summer. 19 months into our contracts. Flights home are supposed to be per annum. The biggest problem? They didn't drop this bombshell until yesterday, seven weeks before vacation. Flights are already prohibitively expensive. Had they been up front with us (we, at the women's college have been asking HR for information on flights for weeks, but received nothing but "we'll have information soon" until yesterday) we could have booked flights back when they were reasonably priced. Like in China, everyone in this country has vacation at the same time. Flights get more and more expensive and then they fill. So, we got together and penned a letter to the COO. I also passed the message onto my friend in Al Khobar (the bigger campus). HR will be making some sort of announcement tomorrow. We shall see. Wish us luck. We're coming home regardless, but if this doesn't come out in our favor, it will hurt us financially.

Guys ..I love it..it is spacious and so clean and uncluttered, you will make this into your home in the twinkling of an eye I am sure....!
You have more room than I thought..it will be enough and you can come home and shut the door on all the nonsense...
Grrr about the flight deal...but I am going to see you getting approval in my mind's eye and then posting it on here or FB, it'll work out, the God's are on your side..look at the bigger pic so far from Ian going off on his own for a year plus... to sharing a little house in Al Q ..BOTH teaching within 2 miles of each other in the same school??????it really is a pretty remarkable series of events, don't you think???

Awesome place. I want to see a outside photo too. Love the matching treadmills. So happy that you both are under the same roof, finally! Man I hope that your company steps up to the plate and do what they said they would do in the beginning. Fingers crossed!!!

Oh man. I took some outside photos and even resized them, but I forgot to post them. I'll do that when I get home today.
