I called the school this morning to let them know I wouldn't be able to teach my classes tonight. I'm down with a cold (or the flu, honestly, who knows) for the third or fourth time since we got here in September. I have to teach 11 classes tomorrow and 10 on Sunday, so I thought it best to take the night to get some rest.
It's hard not to feel a bit defeated by the frequency of my illness here. I love teaching at ALWAYS, but I'm super ready to move on and start pursuing my future. Being sick every other week has really impacted my experience in China so far.
Hopefully, if Guo Peng (our contact at the shelter) can babysit Reeves for a few days, we'll be headed to Beijing for four days over Christmas. I really hope it works out. Getting out and doing some sight seeing after about four months in Jinan would really be wonderful.
Ian and I have been using an app called DuoLingo to study Spanish. I'm hoping to study further while I'm home and then take the exam so that I can put it on my resume. It's a pretty cool app for casual study. It "game-ifies" the experience, so it keeps you motivated, which keeps the vocab and grammar fresh. It's all grammar translation, so it's not as good as our Rosetta Stone, but it's a great addition to our (very light) studying.

And to end this disjointed, sickly post, a funny for you. Wish me luck with my billion classes tomorrow!
