Suncity is one of the smaller schools in the ALWAYS arsenal. It's pretty close to our school but it's still out in the boonies compared to the other more substantial branches. However, getting to school is a bit of a hoot. It isn't quite the uphill, both ways, a foot of snow with a nail in my shoe, but it is a bike ride, two buses, and a minor hike. Though a pain, it is a great time to take some photos and to grab some snacks.
Man, this is a bogus winter break! I mean, I'm working through half of it (and my two working weeks are split apart, too). We don't have enough money for travel, so we're pretty much just at home. This is one of those times where I harrumph to myself and think, "I really hope I get to the Great Wall before leaving China. It'd be disappointing and embarrassing to leave having never seen it."
Oh well, at least we're making it to the gym. I started running again (not far and not fast, but I'm happy to be doing it), so that's good.
I mentioned before that we've made some new friends (by going to the Dubious Movie Nights at Hulu Bar). A few days back we spent an evening with those folks and we ended up at a club. Here's what that was like (that's a fancily cut watermelon rind on his head):
It's also been snowing for a couple of days. But, it's so dry and cold that it doesn't stick (but the roads and sidewalks are still somehow icy for my early morning commute). It just blows around and makes riding my bike pretty miserable.
About an inch stuck when the snow first started, but then it got colder.
Before the temp dropped (you can see how wet it is). Usually the bicycle parking is packed in front of school, but I was apparently the only one pedaling in the mucky snow.
From our 22nd floor apartment, the snow appears to fall up. Well, sometimes it looks like a cyclone, but it never seems to fall down.
Some pictures from our downtime:
Stay warm, guys!
What's all this, then?
Welcome! This is where you'll read about our day to day lives. It may not always be fascinating, but here I'll discuss our home life, work life, struggles and successes. You know, regular human stuff.
