When I was a kid in summer camp, that's (the title) what we obnoxiously yelled anytime some poor counselor had something they needed to tell us all.
The first of two super duper important announcements this morning is that Ian and I have decided to adopt Reeves officially. I mean, it's more accurate to say that we're simply admitting that he's our dog now. It wasn't supposed to be that way, but he's a good little dude and we're not convinced that anyone else could give him the quality of life that we can. Even if his first year in the States will be a little chaotic. He'll live with me at Mom's (she's graciously offered him board, as well). I don't expect it to be too difficult to socialize him to the cats, since he has no prey drive (even when confronted with a rabbit, as we found out yesterday). He'll just have to learn not to get so damn excited. Ava actually likes dogs (so long as they remain calm), but Satch will be a bit scared, so we'll have to take our time.
Alright, time for numero dos.
Ian has accepted an offer with AETG in Saudi Arabia. He hasn't signed a contract yet, but he has signed the "offer agreement." Saudi Arabia has some pretty strict visa regulations for Americans (for reasons I'm sure you can imagine). Because of that, Ian will be returning to the States with me this summer. He'll be stateside for 4-8 weeks depending upon exactly how long it takes to get his visa.
I'm still not sure exactly when we'll be home. But it looks like it should be sometime in the first full week of August. We'll be heading to a remote Cambodian island called Koh Thmei to do nothing but swim, kayak, bird watch and hike right after our contract ends to celebrate our fifth anniversary.
I should know more exact dates here within the next few days, so I'll be sure to keep you folks updated. It's Labor Day here (the spring time Golden Week for China, so everybody has time off) and we'll be heading to Beijing and Badaling tomorrow to finally see the Great Wall. There will definitely be pictures.
The gym is closed today, so Ian and I will be venturing out to run the neighborhood today. Don't worry, I intend to run a straight line and then turn around. My sense of direction is not to be trusted.
Here are a bunch of pictures from our whirlwind trip to Weihei with the school. Since nothing was explained in English, really, I don't know what much of it is. So, forgive the vague or nonexistent captions! And they're from two cameras, so a few aren't in order.
