With Ian's kindy party yesterday and our individual class parties this weekend (though sadly only for our evening classes), Christmas is officially at ALWAYS. The "party" is basically a run down of some Christmas vocab (Christmas tree, Santa, gift, stocking), singing Christmas carols, playing "get the decoration on the tree" (in which we draw a naked Christmas tree on the board, pull a Santa hat over each student's face, spin them around and see if they can draw a bauble on the tree), and dancing to the Just Dance Santa dance video if the kids are into it. Oh, they also get presents of the whizbanger and doohopper variety (penny whistles, felt Santa hats, Groucho glasses, etc.). It's barely a party, but it's still a good time.
And finally, for your viewing pleasure, a video of my Sticker 1 (between 5 and 7 years old) attempting to skank along to the ska-ish portion of the Santa Dance video. If you're unfamiliar, skanking is a type of dancing that was (is? I'm not sure, I've become aged) popular in the ska and ska punk scenes. Follow this link if you want instructions on skanking yourself. (Ha.)
